Ides of March Contest ... let's wrap this up!
Hi Everyone,
I made a HUGE mistake with the Ides of March contest. I thought it would be very cool to run the contest for a full year. The contest closed on the Ides of 2005 and we had thousands of entries.
But where I went wrong was with not taking into account how quickly email addresses expire. It has been a very bad experience to contact winners. I recall that no winners replied to any lots except for one for the first round of notifications. I would have to wait to give the winner fair time to reply and then award a new winner. There are some lots that after 5 rounds I simply gave up on.
Where we are at now is that most of the lots have been awarded and I really need to post the winners. BUT I still have books remaining.
Here's what I will do. We are having a run-off contest in this thread. Simply reply and say either 'Greek' or 'Latin' and you'll be entered. We'll let this run until midnight of the 15th of this month. I'll randomly select a winners.
Again, sorry this contest has been so sluggish. I have learned my lesson and for next year I'm going to simplify the contest by having just one winner.
Here's what's up for grabs:
GREEK LOT
- New Introduction to Greek, Chase and Phillips
- A Greek Reader For Schools, Freeman and Lowe
- Elementary Greek Translation, Hillard and Botting
- Apology and Crito Greek Reader, Ginn Series - Dyer
- Homeric Greek, Pharr (new)
- Athenaze Book I (new)
- Oxford Grammer of Classical Greek (new)
LATIN LOT
- Comprehensive Guide to Wheelock's Latin (new)
- Vergil Aendeid Book V, Whiteley
