Ben-Hur Translation Page 3: On the Roof Garden on Mount Zion

Thanks to all!

Seething with new-born hatred of Rome and his former friend, Ben-Hur returns to his mother’s home on Jerusalem’s mount Zion.

Nascente novo æstuans odio in Romam necnon in illum qui amicus fuerat, Benhur revertitur ad matris domum Jerosolymis, in monte Sion.

My mind is made up! I wonder how mother and my sister Tirzah will greet the news.

Teneo nunc.

Ben-Hur finds his mother and sister, Tirzah, on the roof garden of their home.

Benhur invenit matrem et Thersam sororem in horto pensili domus eorum.

Messala and I had a bitter quarrel. He is Roman to the core, and I hate him with the rest of Rome.

Take care, brother, you must be more careful! You’ll get us all in trouble.

Cave, frater: opus est te cautiorem esse! Adduces enim nos omnes ad malum.

I’m proud of you! My only son shall some day be a leader of his people.

Tu gloria mea! Filius enim meus unigenitus erit aliquando dux populi sui.

There’s only one way to smash Roman rule, mother. I’m going to Rome and learn the art of war as they teach it to a Roman soldier.

Una est via dominatus Romanrum comminuendi, mater. Romam ergo petam ut bellicam artem discam tamquam Romanus miles quisque docetur.

You have my blessing, son, if you intend to serve the Lord God of Israel and not the emperor Caesar Augustus. May the faith of your fathers give you courage and strength!

But Ben-Hur’s hour of peril struck on the following morning. A column of Roman soldiers escorting the new Roman governor of Jerusalem marched down the street by the house of Hur…

I wrote the texts over the page. Fortunately, it is not set in stone and, if you find mistake, I'll correct them.
No, I didn't insert mistakes on purpose to test you: my mistakes are all genuine! :D
