I have been asked the meaning of the Vulgar Latin ronea, but am unable to find it in the resources available to me. Does anyone know?

Do you know the context of the word? A brief Google search suggests that it is an assumed Vulgar Latin word with the meaning of "scab".

No context, just seen in an etymology.
