Hello!
I'm an artist leading a creative project arround bicycles, need help with a translation from english to latin, and wonder if this is the right place to ask for help?
I'm trying to translate this frase to latin, for a painting:
"Bicycles are a vehicle for change".
Given that a true translation of "bicycle" probably doesn't really exist, I'll going for something like "bicycletum promoveo mutatio" (!) or something like this. Of course that was partly made up, looking for the separate words (movement, change) in online dictionaries
Hopefully this doesn't offend anyone, it's actually a pretty cool project, looking forward to getting that motto as tight as possible, with your help I probably can!
Thanks a lot,
MK

Mutatio per birotas favetur
Corrections are welcome (especially for projects).

Literally, this is something like "change is promoted through bicycles". It's not a bad way of rendering it to my eyes.bedwere wrote:Mutatio per birotas favetur
But, just to offer something literal, perhaps Birotae mutandi vehicula [sunt] (sunt is optional).

Hey man! If you want people to know that bicycles are vehicles of change, why not use that slogan in English? So that people would understand what you're trying to say...

Exactly my point, and my eyes aren't rolling.MatthaeusLatinus wrote:In other words, don't even think about getting in Latin ... LOL
But if I were to choose, I would agree with you three.Sceptra Tenens wrote:Me too, actually.MatthaeusLatinus wrote:I like bedwere's suggestion.

Re: Help with translation with for artwork
The pun in "a vehicle for change" might well be untranslatable, but here's my attempt at something similar in Latin:
Progressio birota vehitur.
Progress rides a bike.
Progressio birota vehitur.
Progress rides a bike.
