But..., if anyone has to transfer into the indirect discourse a phrase in which the 1st plural person was originally used, but the verb of dependence is in 3rd singular form, how can it be showed that the speaker in direct discourse had used the 1st plural?
What pronoun can be used? E.g.:
Patriae consulere bene debemus. (Alltogether, including me speaking)
Diximus nos (ipsos) patriae consulere bene debere.
Or...
Dicebant se patriae consulere bene debere.
But...
Ille dixit... (??????)
