another dumb translation question

Post by shaunthesheep »

hi there!

I have another dumb translation question.

Homer sacrificed an ox to the god.

ὁ Ὅμηρος τὸν Βοῦν τῲ θεῷ ἐθύσεν.

Is it correct to use the accusative case for "Βοῦς" and the dative case for "θεός"?

Homer has something similar in Odyssey 14.446: "ἄργματα θῦσε θεοῖς".
“One might get one’s Greek from the very lips of Homer and Plato." "In which case they would certainly plough you for the Little-go. The German scholars have improved Greek so much.”
