Does γίγνομαι ever rule acc. or am I confused?

It should not. Can you give the example (and author+work citation, if possible) where you're seeing it?

Found an example (Arist. E.N. 1114a4):

ἀλλὰ τοῦ τοιούτους γενέσθαι αὐτοὶ αἴτιοι.

hi laurentius, τοιούτους there looks like it's acc. because used in the articular inf. τοῦ ... γενέσθαι, not because it's being governed by the verb. cheers, chad :)

Thanks. But what about 1127b2--3: ἀληθεύει τῷ τὴν ἔξιν τοιούτος εἶναι -- ? Here a similar construction has the nominative. Arbitrary?

Not at all. When the subject of the infinitive is the same as that of the main verb, it appears as
nominative, and when it is not, as accusative.
