Daivid - did you mean ἔγνων? (This also occurs in a couple of your other recent posts here.)

With τοὺς is (e.g.) λογους to be understood?

I'm also not entirely sure about γλώσσα. In English, we sometimes say 'The language was unfamiliar', when what we mean is not really the language itself, but the style or specialist vocabulary; I'm unclear whether the same idiom exists in Greek, or whether (say) λέξις might be preferable here. But this is just a tentative thought - perhaps one of our resident experts could advise.

Just a few things daivid.
ἔγραψα μῦθον περὶ χαλεποῦ ἀνδρός χρῶν λόγους ἐκ Ολλενδορφφος.
χρῶν or χρώμενος? And is λόγους the right case to use with this verb?
ἔπειρον σὺν πόνῳ ἀκριβοῦν μίαν φρασὶν ἐκ τῆς τοῦ Ξενοφῶντος ἀναβάσεως.
Xenophon wrote ἐπειρᾶτο. Middle, and a contract verb. So your ἔπειρον should be …?
ἐξελθὸν ἐκ οἰκίας φέρων γραφθείσας φράσεις ἵνα αὐτας μνημονεύσω καὶ δὴ ἐμνημόνευσα μίαν φρασίν.
You mean ἐξελθὼν or ἐξῆλθον?

Aor. pass. of γράφω is ἐγράφην, the “2nd” or “strong” aorist form, formed directly on the stem (γραφ-). So your γραφθείσας should be …?

Smyth has a useful appendix of verbs including their principal parts.
πορευόμενος μὲν ἐμνημόνευσα φρασὶν τινὰ ἐκ Πράξεων τῶν Ἀποστόλων, ἐπανελθὼν δὲ ἀνέγνως φρασὶν ἐκ τῆς αὐτῆς βίβλου.
A fine sentence (except for ἀνέγνως, a mistake you make too often. –ς is second person sing., -ν first, cf. e.g. ἦλθοΝ vs. ἦλθεΣ.) (And φρασιν accent should be φράσιν.)
Something you’re doing (Ollendorff?, Xenophon?, I don’t know) is paying off.

One general note. Your word order tends to be very English. There's nothing actually wrong about that, and I know I advised you not to worry too much about word order, but you might try sometimes putting verbs after their objects, for instance. E.g. instead of ἔγραψα μῦθον you could write μῦθον ἔγραψα. Not necessary, and doesn’t make a whole lot of difference, but gives prominence to the story rather than to the writing (though that may be what you wanted). Observing Xenophon’s practice should help.

Thanks Michael for all those comments. I am still digesting them but thanks for pointing out ἀνέγνως. Not at all sure why I kept making that mistake.

Yes do do what you can with those comments daivid. In this latest, you make πειρῶν a contract verb ok but it should be in the middle rather than the active. And adverbs normally precede the verb they apply to. But your forms are good, and what you are saying is crystal clear.

Thanks especially for πειρῶν needing to be middle -somehow that completely escaped me.

μεῖζον ἦκα. If you mean “slightly larger” (I’m not sure), try e.g. ὀλίγῳ μεῖζον (lit. bigger by a little). ἦκα is an odd choice of word.

I don’t know what you mean by τῆς πράξεως “of the act.” “Of the action” in the sense “of the events” could be τῶν πεπραγμένων (perf.pass.pple.) or τῶν πραχθέντων (aor.). Or do you mean the Acts (pl.) of the Apostles?

ἀλλὰ τοὺς λόγους εἰσίν ἔτι δυσκόλους. ἔτι εἰσὶν better word order: adverb before verb.
But most important of all: why the accusatives?!

I was worrying about whether I was ἦκα using correctly. Thanks for a more obvious alternative.

Yes it should have been plural

How many guesses am I allowed? I think because I was still thinking in terms of them being read and forgot I had started a new clause.
I should have been on the lookout for adverbs. Tomorrow I shall start with and adverb so I finally get it right.
