Hi Furrykef - thanks for coming in on this topic. That's fine if a tool like that doesn't work for you. My feelings are that a tool like Textkit Answers and the forum fill different needs and there's the opportunity to do different things with the structured data that a Q&A tool provides. Hope you d...

Textkit Answers - Try it Out

Hey Textkitters From the comment section of this post http://www.textkit.com/2011/01/hello-world/ , I was inspired by Gregarius to consider a stackexchange Q&A style tool for Textkit. I installed this morning a php based tool that you can see at http://www.textkit.com/answers/ This style of tool is ...

Hi and thank you for your feedback. I'm close to flipping the site to the new Textkit. I have more work to do with the layout and to move over more content, but it's getting closer.

Hi Will, It's really great hearing from you!! It sounds like I'm in for some pain. Ideally, I would like to convert the Perseus morphological data to a more friendly JSON record set. Perseus Project Data Set - XML?

Has anyone here worked with the data files available for download over at Perseus? I downloaded several of them and took a quick look. The notes say they are XML files but when opening the file in an XML editor (Firefox) it won't parse. When I open in a text editor it looks like the structure is mes...

Textkit Store - Selling Textkit's Original Books

All, I had an extra license to a pretty nice shopping cart script, so I though it was time to begin the process of selling the Textkit books I have collected over the years. The first one I'd recommend is Advanced Visual Anti Bot . All it does is use the standard phpBB captcha, but allows you to choose a custom set of backgrounds. Even using the default backgrounds supplied with the plugin, as opposed to the ones that came with phpBB, did a ton to get rid of spam on my...

If the spam is coming from spambots, I can probably help with that. The vast majority of the spam is automated, but with the manual forum restrictions it's held at bay. However, I do wish I could go back to automated account approval but I don't have the time to investigate and execute really solid...

Salvete! I am new to this forum and therefore fall under the "first-10-postings-have-to-be-approved" rule. This rule causes a delay for postings to be visible from up to 5 days. The rule itself is sensible in order to prevent spam. Just look at some of the unmoderated groups in the Internet (shudde...

yes, it has to do with the moderation queue where you have privs to immediately reply to a thread but a new user must wait for moderation approval by myself. I was out of town all last week which jammed up the queue too which didn't help.

Hi and welcome to Textkit! I think it's an enormous mistake to skip composition. Give it a quick try with some of the Sidgwick or NH books here that have keys. Try some basic sentences and see how you do. If you do not do as well as you think you should have, I suggest more composition. Historically...
