Re: What's the weather today? (Latine)

Salvete amici!

Re: What's the weather today? (Latine)

Per hac hebdómada, tam frígidum erat quod stríriae fictae sunt in tectis et autoraétis. Proxi tempus quo formántur erat mense Februário, anno millésimo nonacentésimo nonagésimo sexto. Cives Luduvicianae nesciunt quomodo agere hieme, ergo scholae et ludi et officia clausi sunt, donec hodie.

Re: Videos or audio which teach proper pronunciation and pit

We don't know proper pronunciation. You'll have to wing it. There are recordings all over the web, and each reader has got his own system. But you can do this even without a video. Vowel length is the difference between the 'i' in 'big' and the one in 'little.' Worry more about short vowels being sh...

Salvete sodales!

Hodie, circa meridiem, sol adfuit sed non splendavit, quia luna id occultavit. Eclipsem vidi, et miratus sum. Multi dixerunt me cutis mea viridis videatur, sed non sic visa. Paucae nubes habuimus, sed rem non texerunt.

Re: Magna porta or porta magna?

It doesn't matter terribly much. Size and number do tend to come first, while the others tend to come second, but that order might be reversed for the sake of a predicate adjective (porta magna est , bella porta est ). Be able to hear noun/adjective agreement, and you'll pick up the orders over time...

Teaching Latin Well

I've been tutoring students in Latin for a few years, but recently I started teaching Latin full-time. I've always used William G. Most's "Latin by the Natural Method," and moved through the lessons by having students read a sentence, then translate it, encouraging them to read and re-read old passa...
