Question about Book 1, Line 20 of the Iliad

Pharr (and T.D. Seymour) give line 20 as: παῖδα δ' ἐμοὶ λῦσαί τε φίλην, τά τ' ἄποινα δέχεσθαι Other editions, however (such as the Loeb Classics version translated by Murray and Wyatt, as well as Homeri Opera, Vol. 1 translated by Munro and Allen) give line 20 as: παῖδα δ᾽ ἐμοὶ λύσαιτε φίλην, τὰ δ᾽ ...

Re: Lexicon of the Homeric Dialect Online

There are also some great online resources (although not Cunliffe) over at the Perseus Project, a service of Tufts University. http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/collection?collection=Perseus:collection:Greco-Roman If you open up any of the Greek texts, and click on any word, it will load a "word s...

Re: The Iliad A Multilingual Parsed interlinear Text

John, I'm enjoying your parsed interlinear Iliad on my kindle - it's very easy to read (both in terms of formatting for kindle and in terms of content), and is a terrific tool as a beginner working through Pharr. The translation itself doesn't seem too difficult, it's the semantic meaning that is perplexing (other posters on this thread seem to have ...

Pharr Lesson VIII (Section 38.9) - Typo in Greek sentence?

So. I'm wondering if there is a problem with the gender of the last pronoun in sentence 9 of section 38 of Pharr's Homeric Greek. The sentence is: ἡ θεά της δεινης θαλάσσης ἔχει τὸ σκηπτρον χρύσεον. (roughly transliterated: 'h Thea ths deinhs thalasshs exei to skhptron xruseon') My question is about...
