Textkit is an all free education website developed and maintained by volunteers. The development of Textkit's library of digital documents, web service and bandwidth costs comes at considerable expense.

Years before Google Books and other digital library sources, Textkit was the first online library of free downloadable Greek and Latin resources. The Textkit project is nearing its 10 year anniversary. At the project's beginning in 2001, the download of 5 to 8 megabyte files was considerable.

The initial Textkit library was only made possible with significant investment, in a a high speed production scanner, photo copy equipment and supplies, imaging and development software, the purchase of public domain textbooks, and hosting and bandwidth feed. These costs totaled over $15,000.00 from the period between 2002 and 2004.
