Unique Name
Hello all. forgive my ignorance, but, all I've been able to gather from my attempts @ Latinizing my name that there is no equivalent for the name Quinn, other than to add -ius. Same problem with my last name 'Golling', my middle name, 'Daniel' is a bit easier. 'Quinn' is Irish in etymology. 'Golling' is German. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Unique Name
I think Cuinnius in Latin was formerly preferred to Quinnius, Quinn.
Cuinnius ut nomen anteà praeferendum erat, Cuinni, ut credo.
Cuinnius ut nomen anteà praeferendum erat, Cuinni, ut credo.
I'm writing in Latin hoping for correction, and not because I'm confident in how I express myself. Latinè scribo ut ab omnibus corrigar, non quod confidenter me exprimam.

Re: Unique Name
Leaving Golling alone is OK, unless you can find a good precedent, and here you have one, with Gollingius [maybe an ancestor of yours]:
Non mutandum cognomen novum nisi exemplum habes et hîc habes quidem, ut Gollingius [forsit avus].
Exempli gratiâ:
"In Academiâ Wittebergensi die Februario M DCC XXIX [1729]...Defendet responsurus auctor Georg.[ius] Christophor.[us] Gollingius"
