Today I took the opportunity afforded by a head cold to work up two poems of Bion. They're not terribly long (8 and 11 hexameter lines), and I find they're pretty straightforward reading, even if they are in dialect. So, here's your chance for easy early exposure to Bucolic Doric.
Bion 9 is about who the Muses will help. In Bion 11 he calls on the evening star to light his way to an amorous shepherd (always with the shepherds, these bucoliasts!).
