Accent on διάκειμαι?

Post by pster »

How can διάκειμαι have the accent on the prefix like that? I thought that was a no-no. It is a good verb to know: "serving as Pass. to διατίθημι, to be in a certain state, to be disposed or affected so and so".

Smyth notes in 791b that, in compounds, this verb has a recessive accent in the indicative
and imperative, but infinitive still has an accent on the penultimate. I do not know the reason for
this peculiarity.
