Greetings everyone,
I have been lurking around on the forums for a long time while I have been studying Hebrew. Now I am on my way to learning Greek (classical and Koine, and little Latin when I get bored) and I have no real concept of Greek pronunciation. I was curious if there is an audio component for Homeric Greek or any complementary resources. I have searched the forums and these resources seem either scant, non-existant, or have been deleted by their owners.
Does anyone have any good resources for pronunciation and/or links to sound files for pronunciation?
Thanks,
Sean

Re: Audio component for Greek?
hi sean, here are some e.g.s of homer recited with reconstructed pronunciation:
by will annis: http://www.aoidoi.org/articles/epic/recite.pdf
by stefan hagel: http://www.oeaw.ac.at/kal/sh/
for the attic dialect, the audio CDs that come with the french assimil course on ancient grk uses reconstructed pronunciation (apart from one of the female speakers on the CDs who doesn't) - these recordings are worth getting.
cheers, chad

If you want specifically Homeric recordings you'll have to hunt through the list a bit, as it's not organized by period.
I don't know of any audio that has been done to accompany Pharr's text (not sure if that's what you were looking for).

Thanks for the replies. I was definitely hoping for prounciation aids that would go with the Epic period, not necessarily with the text.
I will certainly take a look at those sites.
