I am reviewing my Greek using the book I used in college: An Introduction to Greek by Crosby and Schaeffer. I am not sure how to translate this one. I know its a genitive of value, but I am not sure how to translate it into English. Thanks

"The man is worthy of good gifts," I'd imagine.

Are you sure it's not δωρων? That doesn't look right.maninblk wrote:I am reviewing my Greek using the book I used in college: An Introduction to Greek by Crosby and Schaeffer. ἦν means "was" rather than "is".
And αζιος* should be ἄξιος.
And αζιος* should be ἄξιος.

Much better.
ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἄξιος ἦν δώρων καλῶν.
Now it's a nice sentence.
"The man was worthy of lovely/good/goodly gifts."
