Re: Word Association Game (English)
Salvete!
I do not wish to grumble (or rant), but can anyone tell me what this thread is doing on Textkit? I could understand if it were at least in Latin.
I believe that not only is this (English) thread inappropriate, but I even feel that it is bad for Textkit's reputation. Just look at some newsgroups which degenerate more and more as off-topic threads intrude.
And I do not even want to speculate about the possibility that the thread is used to increase the number of posts (and the "status"). Oops, I did speculate. Please, don't get me wrong. I don't wish to start a flame war, but I am interested in keeping Textkit healthy (oh my, I do sound like a prig, don't I?).
So I propose that this thread is moved to "Composition, Discussions & Debate" and Latin-Only. What do you think?
Yours sincerely,
Carolus Raeticus

Honestly, I was thinking the same thing, but since it was Jeff himself that revived the thread, I didn't think that voicing any dissent would accomplish anything. ^^;

Re: Word Association Game (English)
This is an open board, which is presumably for non-Latin/Greek topics, so is the suggestion that there shouldn't be an open board because we don't want topics that aren't related to Latin/Greek? Anyway, I think it's fun, although I also thought it would be cool to do it in Latin, it could be a fun vocabulary building tool! As far as building status goes... come on. It was inactive since 2004 until recently when Jeff started it back up. I guess I'm the intended target of that accusation because I've been active on this thread recently. You're right! I'm single and trying to do anything to improve my chances. I'm hoping to soon be able to change my profile on match.com to say 'textkit zealot'! jk

Re: Word Association Game (English)
All,
I appreciate the concern for Textkit standards but as said right above - it's the open board, so there's no problem with a thread like this here.
I revived this thread to get some metrics on board activity and see who's active around here.
Jeff

Not sure that's the best way to go about it, considering that so far there have been two people (including me) whose only reason for posting would be "Why is this here?"Jeff Tirey wrote:I revived this thread to get some metrics on board activity and see who's active around here.
