Re: General Latin Chat
You really didn't have to post it twice. (If you posted it a second time 'cause your post didn't appear the first time, that's just 'cause your post had to be approved first.)
Anyway, I joined, but the only users there were bots (bAndie9100 and Whitaker). I doubt you'll attract too many people if this is a common situation. You might want to consider using a larger IRC network rather than creating your own, too... you're probably much more likely to get people to join that way.

Re: General Latin Chat
Did not know about post approving
Anyway
bandie is not a bot. he was just idle
and yes whitaker is a good bot english-latin latin-english translator. and not only this.
"if this is a common situation" - so what situation you'll call uncommon?
The channel linked with one in larger network and we also have several very latin-educated persons.
We have as much as we have
In fact the main aim is not attracting people. just chat for pleasure.

Re: General Latin Chat
I think it's a really cool idea (as same as the whole forum). Soon I'll start (one more time) learning Latin at my new studies and it would be good to have a possibility to talk with someone in Latin This time I have high hopes to remember more from Latin and I'm sure this chat will be very helpful in it.

Re: General Latin Chat
I just wanted to let you all know that the IRC channel ##latin on irc.freenode.net (here via web http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=##Latin ) is very much alive, it has around 50 people online, it has active community of both learners and also those who teach Latin or are advanced in the language. It doesn't compete with a forum, since the communication there is so rudimentary different and you receive very much something different there than from a quality forum thread with a proper on-topic discussion. But some people prefer a live chat, right?
Moreover, those who are able to compose correct Latin sentences already are permitted to ##latinitas where we speak only Latin (the others are not, since we have there a kind of anti-idling policy). But I wrote about it already two years ago here http://www.textkit.com/greek-latin-foru ... =3&t=62017

(two ## hashtags)
Who wants to approach us via web, you can through there https://web.libera.chat/##Latin )
See you there!
