Is there such a word as 'retroversa'?
If not, what's a good adjective for "backward"?

Salve aterutimber
adjectivum: retrorsus -a -um
adverbium: rursùs, rursùm, retrorsùs, retrorsùm, retroversùs, retroversùm, retrò
adjectivum: retrorsus -a -um
adverbium: rursùs, rursùm, retrorsùs, retrorsùm, retroversùs, retroversùm, retrò
I'm writing in Latin hoping for correction, and not because I'm confident in how I express myself. Latinè scribo ut ab omnibus corrigar, non quod confidenter me exprimam.

I can figure out adjectivum and adverbium, but what does salve aterutimber mean?
also retroversa seems to show up in several scientific names, what does it mean?
sorry, I know hardly any Latin
thanks for your time

Ha ha, thanks, I was trying to look it up with a Latin translator but I guess it wasn't showing up because it was all written together. It's nice to know what my screen name is in Latin though.Ater ut imber... dark as the rain

sorry, I answered just before you edited your message (I also forgot to translate 'salve', = 'hello').DARKastheRAIN wrote:I can figure out adjectivum and adverbium, but what does salve aterutimber mean?

I guess adrianus tried to imply retroversa means indeed 'backward' (along with all synonyms he added).

Yes // Ita est, vel anglicè "the road back" vel "the way back", si id vis dicere. Visne? // if that's what you mean. Is it? Also, "the earlier road." // "via quae priùs erat"DARKastheRAIN wrote:So would via retroversa work for backward road?

Sorry DARKastheRAIN, I missed this
Me paenitet, ATERutIMBER, hoc omisi.
Me paenitet, ATERutIMBER, hoc omisi.
It can mean "retroverted" or "tilted abnormally backward" (feminine adjective // pro adjectivo feminini generis "abnormaliter supinatus -a -um", ut potest)DARKastheRAIN wrote:also retroversa seems to show up in several scientific names, what does it mean?
