kore/kora

Post by zagreus »

Hi all,
I was wondering if anybody knew of a greek poem where the name Kore is specifically used
as a title of Persephone?

Thanks in advance!

Yes! Here's an example:

There once was a Kore of great bounty,
Who went prancing all 'round the county,
With an ear of corn in each hand,
She'd use them per her plan,
Whenever her Hades was dis-mounty.

Hope this helps,

I hope you're not offended.
I was just goofing around since the post is so old.
If you're still interested in the topic maybe you'd even answer a question I had;
Is the worship of Persephone in any way related to the statues of Kouroi, etc. ?

This is just a random question because I saw a fine exhibit of them in the
National gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. long, long ago and your question
brought back the memory.

Best,
