Serva tui substantia (Protect the substance/essence of you, or your essence/substance)
EDIT: Substantia is more substance essentia is what you really want, and I put it in the wrong case lol...

Re: eng-latin translation please
why 'tui' and not 'tuam'?
“Cum ego verbo utar,” Humpty Dumpty dixit voce contempta, “indicat illud quod optem – nec plus nec minus.”
“Est tamen rogatio” dixit Alice, “an efficere verba tot res indicare possis.”
“Rogatio est, “Humpty Dumpty responsit, “quae fiat magister – id cunctum est.”

Use tuam. Tui is incorrect.

By now "tui" has probably already been tattooed across somebody's shoulders...paulusnb wrote:Use tuam. Tui is incorrect.

If they wanted it for something as serious as a tatoo I'd hope they'd specify since this is a learning site I hope I didn't screw up someones arm tatoo or something.

Dearest Slappo, I meant no insult in the slightest to your Latin skills, and I commend you on being willing to take advantage of the Latin you know. Don't worry about making mistakes; it's better to make the effort. I cringe thinking about some of the Latin I wrote in my early posts on Textkit (and in some of my current ones too).Slappo wrote: If they wanted it for something as serious as a tatoo I'd hope they'd specify since this is a learning site I hope I didn't screw up someones arm tatoo or something.
You are right to point out that it is foolhardy for anyone to rely on an internet forum for permanent decisions, not to mention the more vexing question of seeking Latin translations in the first place...
Edit: I'd like to see someone use my new Cicero signature, preferably in a tattoo. "Nemo potest dicere utrum iste plus biberit an vomuerit an effuderit!" It means "Very best wishes on your new job, love Cicero."

Seriously though, Will, a strong chance that there will be errors? Somewhat insulting to be honest...

Re: eng-latin translation please
I like the sig, Thesaure
In all fairness though, serva tui substantia does mean something (but substo is very rare in Classical and the meaning is different).
