Ovid's Fasti

Post by cdm2003 »

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good, preferrably unexpurgated edition of Ovid's Fasti? Copious and informative notes are what I'm looking for.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi,

I've been seeking for an outline to Ovid from The Latin Library (I know there's one on Vergil: http://www.thelatinlibrary.com/virgil/outline.pdf ) but I cannot remember how to access to the index.

Well, I've found this. Take the time you need to choose what is really worth of reading (mainly about Metamorphoses): http://www.unc.edu/~oharaj/Ovidlinks.html

And here, more concrete:
On Latin verse (Very useful to me, I hadn't read much about verse and it clarifies a lot of things.): http://uts.cc.utexas.edu/cgi-bin/cgiwra ... ger, versif
Index to the Ovid's Fasti : http://www.unbsj.ca/arts/classics/cours ... asout.html
Edition of Ovid's Fasti (I cannot find it at Perseus): http://www.thelatinlibrary.com/ovid/ovid.fasti1.shtml
With notes and introduction. If you like this edition, try to edit it with Word Office and then fit it into a PDF in order to make it more readable: http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/8738

Regards,
Gonzalo

Hi Gonzalo...

Thank you very much for the links...I didn't know many of them, and the one at U Texas looks very useful.

However, in regards the Fasti, I was looking for something in book form. :) Basically, what people around here thought had the most useful notes.

Thanks,
Chris

Some selections from the Fasti are found in Dunmore's collection. The notes are brief and to the point, not expansive.

Selections From Ovid, by Charles William Dunmore
