pronuciation

Post by bubmathis »

I am very new to learning latin and I have ran across a few questions as far as pronunciation is concerned. Is the double "l" in latin pronounced like a y as in spanish or how is it pronounced? and how about the "ce" or "ci". is the c pronounced as an s or more like the c in "ca" and in "co"

Pronounce a double "l" like "full line" in English. As for "ce" or "ci", if depends on what system of pronunciation you choose. The restituted pronunciation prescribes "ke" and "ki"; the ecclesiatical or Italian, which I prefer, has a "ch" sound like in church.

And to you!

I think Alatius addresses pronunciation very well, don't you Alati? He has a great site.
