The word TITLE derives from the Latin word titulus, which is related to the Greek word τίτλος (titlos ; title) from the verb τίω (to honor).

From the same root: titled, titling, entitle, titular

In modern Greek:
α) τίτλος: title, label [titlos]
β) τιτλοÏ￾χος: titled [titluhos]
γ) τιτλοφοÏ￾ÏŽ: entitle, confer a title on sb [titloforo]
δ) τιτουλάÏ￾ιος: titular, assistant bishop [titularios]

τίω (tio) - τίτλος (titlos) - titulus -> title
