
in my German-Latin translation I make many mistakes because of possessiva, which I use too often

E.g.: Pater mihi scripsit, ut domum redirem.
In this sentence I wrote "meum" - Pater meum mihi scripsit [...]
But this is not correct.
Or here: Cato senex filium epistula admonet, [...]
I wrote: Cato senex filium suum epistula admonet [...]
Is there a rule, which I can learn about the usage of possessiva? It seems to be quiet simple for others, but I ALWAYS do this mistake
