In book 1 of the Histories of Herodotus, chapter 6,
VI. [1] Κ?οῖσος ἦν Λυδὸς μὲν γένος, παῖς δὲ Ἀλυάττεω, τ??αννος δὲ ?θνέων τῶν ?ντός ?λυος ποταμοῦ, ὃς...
Why is τῶν occurring after ?θνέων ?

Annis,
Thank you for the explanation.
This is something new to me, as I have not seen it in Athenaze, although I have not quite finished volume 2 yet.
Browsing through "A greek grammar for colleges", it appears that Smyth is much more elaborate than Athenaze.
Once I finish Athenaze, I shall read Smyth.
