Thank you for the explanation.
This is something new to me, as I have not seen it in Athenaze, although I have not quite finished volume 2 yet.
Browsing through "A greek grammar for colleges", it appears that Smyth is much more elaborate than Athenaze.
Once I finish Athenaze, I shall read Smyth.
