Critical Apparatus

Post by petka »

Help needed!
Is somebody who can give me a bibliography in this field of the philology and critique of the text and work with manuscripts which means establishing the manuscripts, the archetype with problems which usually occur glossae, emmendatio, correctio etc. and establishing a critical apparatus? If possible online material. I've read Lindsay introduction but it is not enough. I wish recent stuff.

Here's one, short and sweet — and dense — Textual Criticism and Editorial Technique Applicable to Greek and Latin Texts, M.L. West, Stuttgart: B.G. Teubner 1973, 155 pp.

It's so nice to see people get excited about textual criticism. :)

I became excited after having read it through, impressed by the author's wit and humor. I couldn't help but laughing when I read his acount for the variant reading "himeiro" of "himeiron" on page 107. Mr. West has some magical power in him to make things plain fancinating.
