I have a very basic question. I am working on the practice sentences in Lesson XI of Pharr and I can't understand some of the forms given.
[sorry I'm missing the diacritics]
6. οτε κακωσ Ï€Ïοσεειπεν ΑτÏειδησ ΧÏυσην, τοτε εχολωσεν εκηβολον.
I'm reading it with the aorist, as "When the son of Atreus spoke wickedly to Chryses, he then angered the free-shooter." But what is going on with "Ï€Ïοσεειπεν" and "εχολωσεν"?
If the verb is third person aorist singular active, shouldn't it be "Ï€Ïοσεειπε" and "εχολωσε" without the "v"? Is it because the next word starts with a vowel?
Thanks for any help! I just bought myself Pharr for my debut in Greek and so far things are slow but very interesting.
