a study of Latin

Post by elduce »

Salvete,
Where can I find books that explain the origin of Latin and how the case and verb systems came to be?

To do that, you would have to study the early forms of various Indo-European languages to find out when Latin became distinctly Latin.. migration patterns and all that. and Proto-Indo-European case and verb systems to better understand those of Latin.
as for books..., I'm sure you could just do some research on the net or you could wait for someone else to suggest one or two. I've found a couple in Borders and B&N, as well as a used bookstore.
