5. They lead. (2nd aorist)

1. The barbarians sent the man.
οἱ βάÏ￾βαÏ￾οι τὸν ἄνθÏ￾ωπον ἔπεμψαν.

2. The generals brought (2nd Aor) horses at that time.
οἱ στÏ￾αηγοί τότε ἵππους ἤγαγον.

3. Will Cyrus send good wine to the general?
ΚῦÏ￾ος ἀγαθὸν οἳνον Ï„á¿· στÏ￾ατηγῷ πέμψει;

4. He will not plot against the allies.
οá½￾κ τοὺς σύμμαχους á¼￾πιβουλεύσει.

5. He will command the general to pursue the enemy.
τὸν στÏ￾ατηγόν διώειν τους πολέμιους κελεύσει.

Greek accent is difficult indeed : however, the problems you are encountering are definitely minor ones. You did understand the heart of the matter very well.

á¼￾κελευσαμεν. (drops the acute as not the last 3 syllables?) – I did’nt understand your question (my English is so poor… ), but the accent is recessive here : á¼￾κελεύσαμεν


4. He will collect.
ἀθÏ￾οίσε (ν) - ἀθÏ￾οίσει : primary endings are used in the future (you put a secondary ending as in the imperfect)

5. They lead. (2nd aorist)
ἤγαγον - ok

οá½￾κ τοὺς σύμμαχους á¼￾πιβουλεύσει. - τοῖς συμμάχοις οá½￾κ á¼￾πιβουλεύσει dative with á¼￾πιβουλεύω / Note word order (mine is preferable though not compulsory) and accents.

5. He will command the general to pursue the enemy.
τὸν στÏ￾ατηγόν διώειν τους πολέμιους κελεύσει. -- τὸν στÏ￾ατηγὸν διώκειν τοὺς πολεμίους κελεύσει – "the ennemy" : Maybe singular τὸν πολέμιον unless "the ennemy" could express a plural in English ? Note grave accent on στÏ￾ατηγὸν and accent on πολεμίους (a lengthened ultima brings the primitive accent of πολέμιος down to the penult); - Note that this sentence is ambiguous in Greek : according to the cases, it could mean "He will command the ennemies to pursue the general". When it happens in Greek, the context would usually clear up the ambiguity... otherwise it could be a joke !)

Well Skylax, I think it is a lot better than my Greek!

No.5 is interesting - I am surprised that the textbook didn't make this clearer.

I am starting Greek at university in 2 weeks time - so I might concentrate on their work for a few weeks. Thank you to all the Textkit Greek experts for all the help you have given - I have no doubt there will be lots more questions! This has given me a great start for university.
