Iliad 2:278 Sg. subject with Pl. verb

Is it common to have sg. nouns that indicate a group with a pl. verb or is it an exception?

Hi Bert, I just looked this up in Monro and Chantraine. Chantraine suggests that this happens "often" but only gives 2 other examples,

15.305 h( plhqu\s ... a)pone/onto
23.157-8 lao\s )Axaiw=n ... pei/sontai muqw=|

Monro gives the same examples.

Hi Bert, no I agree with you, and if you're at around 2.300 you're coming up to a really good bit, all the similes before the catalogue.
