Smyth, for beginners?

Here you can discuss all things Ancient Greek. Use this board to ask questions about grammar, discuss learning strategies, get help with a difficult passage of Greek, and more.

Hello,

Would you recommend H. W. Smyth's Greek Grammar for beginners with Latin proficiency?

It's an excellent reference work, but I wouldn't recommend it as a systematic means of learning Greek.

If you can give us an idea why you are studying Greek, I'm sure someone can recommend a good beginner's text.

Cordially,

Paul
