Hello,
I have a question concerning numbers 4 and 6 in the english part of Lesson IV.
Here are the problems with my translations underneath them:
4. The lovely goddess of the sea was not in Cilla.
[size=134]θεὰ καλὴ θαλάσσης οὐκ ἦν ἐν κίλλῃ.
6. Who was in Cilla by the sea?
[size=134]τίς ἦν ἐν κιλλὴ| ἐπὶ θαλάσσῃ;
Now, here is a link to William Annis' key for the beginning part of the Pharr book:

My question is that why does he translate Cilla in number 4 to be in the accusative when I think it should be in the dative. In 6, "by the sea" is a location (which is a valid use of the dative according to pharr/wright page 287), just like "in Cilla" in 4, and the dative was correct in 6, so why not also 4?
Thanks.

Re: Pharr - Lesson IV
Because he is a putz. It should be dative, and has been fixed.psilord wrote:My question is that why does he translate Cilla in number 4 to be in the accusative when I think it should be in the dative.
