Breathing mark on -eu-

Post by Bert »

As a rule the breathing mark on a diphthong is above the second vowel.
Why is it over the first when the word is a compound word starting with [size=150]ἐύ.
I see that eu itself is listed both ways -[size=150] ἐύ ‐ εὖ.

The meter will determine which one is used.

--
wm
