Here is the 2nd part of the thread. I'm not sure what to conclude about this just yet...

Could some people who voted 'disagree' please explain why they think this. I haven't voted yet, but I'm curious as to why one would.

I am not exactly sure what the question means, but I am pretty sure I would disagree no matter how it were worded. I certainly do not always know what is going on in my mind, or if what I am thinking is really what I am thinking (I have confused myself many times). On top of that, I believe the mind is a part of the universe and not separate, so if we cannot understand entirely any part of the universe then we certainly cannot understand the mind if it is a part of the universe.

I see your point. But would you agree that we can understand our own thoughts with absolute certainty?

Not at all, why else would we need psychiatrists and counselors?

I'm not sure I understand. If a crazy person thinks that aliens are coming to earth, wouldn't the crazy person be able to understand that with absolute certainty? He created the thought.
