Deni simul quinos dies imperitabant... - Ten were ruling at the same time for periods of five days. Am I translating this correctly?

'were ruling', 'ruled' maybe is preferable if you're taking the sentence out of context, but the deni and the quinos dies, Yes, you got that right.

"used to be in command" or "would be in command" are possibilities.
