parathēráxousan
I came across parathēráxousan in a passage, taking the word as a present active singular feminine accusative participle. However, I wasn't able to find its lexical form in the latest unabridged LSJ. Anyone have a clue? Or did I overlook something? Thanks!

Re: parathēráxousan
Maybe it would help if we knew the text, and the greek spelling. I couldn't find anything on that word but maybe I spell it wrong. Παραθηράχουσαν? Παραθεράχουσαν? Παρά + θήρα + έχουσαν ?
I really don't know! Sorry...

The ē is eta and the x is xi. Here is the link to the text:

The word is the third one in line 31; I'm trying to make sense of what is going on in lines 27-31. Also, anyone who can read cursive Geman is welcome to have at the notes at the bottom of the page. Thanks again.

I can't access the book in that link. Can you post a screenshot of the page?

Re: parathēráxousan
I found this on the Perseus site where someone else has apparently transcribed/transliterated the original text a little differently, taking the word in question as parathēlázousan instead of parathēráxousan:
http://perseus.mpiwg-berlin.mpg.de/cgi- ... ne%3D%2368
It appears there's a string of present active feminine accusative 3rd person participles describing a slave wet nurse who doesn't spoil the milk, doesn't sleep around with men, doesn't get pregnant again, and doesn't nurse another child.
Does that sound right?

Thanks a million, Lisa; that beats the hell out of that handwritten transcription in the BGU.Lisa wrote:You may want to check papyri.info for the complete text:
