Indirect Statement Question

Postby wilhelmjohnson » Fri Nov 22, 2013 3:45 pm

Orberg CAP. XLI Lines 100–101: Ea adeo mitis fuisse dicitur...

If this is an indirect statement, shouldn't Ea be Eam?

No, because ea is the subject of dicitur ("She is said to have been so gentle ..."; mitis likewise nominative, in agreement with ea).

If it were "They say she'd been so gentle ...", then you'd have indirect statement: dicunt eam adeo mitem fuisse ...
