Chaira, I'm new

Post by hannie »

I'm new but I have been taking this elementary Greek course and so far I have been doing well. But here's the issue, I really can't translate verbs when they are in their different forms. I get confused with the whole 2nd middle primary... whatever it is. There's this recent thing that I'm trying to translate and I am having a very hard time doing it.. My fellow greekians  please help me out. It's pretty long though. Thank y'all very much. :D

You will probably find it more useful to select one sentence, give us your best effort at a translation (even if it is very little) and make a stab at saying what makes it so hard. I say make a stab because I know that sometimes it the problem is that the everything altogether just overwhelms. However, unless you at least make a stab others can't focus in on what you are finding difficult.

You can always post a further questions afterwards.

Welcome Chaira! Good advice from daivid.

A couple of typos in the text that could throw you off:
δέντρῳ should be δένδρῳ
Ἔρωτες should be Ἔρωτας
(Also, ἤγε should be ἦγε. And μεσημβρίῃ should really be μεσημβρίᾳ, but that's just being picky.)

The story is adapted from a delectable ancient Greek romantic novel which is not all that much harder to read than this rewrite (and a whole lot more enjoyable). Something to look forward to!
