Trying to translate 6 years later

Postby daave220 » Wed Oct 16, 2013 2:34 am

So I haven't been in a Latin classroom in over 6 years, but it was such a lovely and semi-easy language that a lot has stuck with me. I'm attempting to translate "The only thing worse than being different is being the same" but have failed finding the correct endings on the nouns. I (think I) have a similar phrase correct:
"a normal man is worse than a different man"
translated to
"normalis hominis est peius homi diversi genus"

So, if someone could help me get the first phrase down and tell me if I translated that correctly, that would be amazing.

I think the translation for the first one would beSola res peior quam esse differens est esse idem.
For the second one it would be Homo solitus peior quam homo differens est.

Hi,

I'm just a beginner, but I can spot some errors that I can point out for you. I would just like you to describe how you were thinking when you were choosing the different endings and what cases you believe the words should be in. This would allow me to give a better answer.
