TABULA SEXTA
ΠΙΝΑΞ Ο ΕΚΤΟΣ

Age, condition, behavior. Aetas, conditio, mores. Ἡλικία, κατάστασις, ἀγωγή.

Whose is this boy? Puer hic unde est? Τίνος ἐστὶν οὗτος ὁ παῖς;

He looks like his father. Respondet patri. Oris similitudine patrem refert. Τὸν πατέρα παρεμφαίνει. Τῷ πατρὶ προσώπῳ ὁμιοῦται.

He doesn’t look like his father at all. Natura eum prorsus a similitudine parentis arripuit. Τῷ πατρὶ οὐδὲν ὁμοίως ἔχει.

He looks like you very much. Tui (tibi) similis est probe. Σοὶ θαυμαστῶς ὁμοῖός ἐστι.

What’s your name? Qui (adv.) vocaris? Quod nomen tibi est? Πῶς ὀνομάζου; Τί σοί ἐστιν (τὸ) ὄνομα;

My name is Francis. Mihi nomen est Franciscus. Φραγκίσκος ὀνομάζομαι. Φραγκίσκος μοί ἐστι ὄνομα.

How old is he? Quotum agit aetatis annum? Πηλίκος ἐστί;

He is ten years old. Decem annos est natus. Undecimum agit (aetatis annum). Δεκαετής ἐστι. Ἔτη δέκα γεγονώς ἐστι.

He is over ten years. Excessit (egressus est) annos decem. Ἔτη γεγονώς ἐστι πλείω δέκα.

He is not six years old yet. He is still in his sixth year of age. Nondum sextum aetatis annum egressus est. Οὐδέπω ἓξ ἔτη διετέλεσε. Ἔτι καὶ νῦν ἑξαετής ἐστι.

I am as old as you. Ego te aetate consequor. Τὴν αὐτὴν ἡλικίαν σοι ἔχω.

He is as old as me. Aequalis est meus (aetate). Ὁμῆλίξ μοί ἐστι.

Older, big. Younger, little. Natu major (provectior). Natu minor (posterior, inferior). Ἡλικίᾳ πρεσβύτερος (προέχων). Ἡλικίᾳ ὕστερος, τὴν ἡλικίαν νεώτερος.

Good sense grows as one is getting older. Ratio cum aetate adolescit. Ὁ λόγος τῷ χρόνῳ (μετὰ προϊούσης τῆς ἡλικίας) αὔξεται.

Where do you live? Ubi habitas? Ποῦ οἰκεῖς;

My house is in front of this school house. Respondet domus mea huic gymnasio. Ἀντικεῖταί μου ἡ οἰκία τῷ τούτῳ γυμνασίῳ.

He lives very close to our home. Propinque nostris aedibus habitat. Accolit nostras aedes. Παροικεῖ τῷ ἡμῶν δόμῳ.

He lives near the main square. Habet se (habitat) propter aream. Τῇ πλατείᾳ προσοικεῖ.

He lives upstairs. Summis in aedibus habitat. Ἐν ὑψίστῃ οἰκίᾳ οἰκεῖ.

When will you behave with good sense? Quando sapies? Πότε φρονήσεις;

He has little good sense. Parum admodum sapit. Ὀλίγον φρονεῖ.

He has no good sense at all. Nihil sapit. Οὐδὲν φρονεῖ.

You are too sensible. Praeter modum sapis. Παρὰ τὸ μέτρον φρονεῖς.

He is idle, a lazybones. Pigritia (abl.) laborat. Ῥᾳθυμεῖ.

He is dim, dense. Ingenio parum potest. Ἀνόητός ἐστι.

He’s got talent. Multis naturae muneribus (dotibus) ornatus est. Plurimum ingenio valet (potest). Ταῖς εὐφυΐαις πλήρης ἐστί. Εὐμοίρου φύσεως ἔλαχε.
Hominibus totam versandam constat esse bibliothecam, ut solam utilem scribere sententiam possint.
