Greek audio
I noticed someone had posted about Latin podcasts in the Latin forum. I just wondered whether anyone had any experience with Greek ones (or indeed any Greek audio material), and if so, what pronunciation they used?

Re: Greek audio
This still-in-progress audio of the Greek Ollendorff is arguably the best available at any price (and it's free.)

I'd call it a cross between Erasmian and the so-called Restored Attic. It's sort of tonal and he does pronounce the iota subscript.

Thanks for this, Marcos. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with Ollendorff - how does it work (in a nutshell) and how are the podcasts related?

Re: Greek audio
Thank you, Markos!
This is what I wrote in the blurb for my edition of the Greek Ollendorff:
Markos asked me to make recordings of the exercises because he thinks (and I agree) that they may help people speak the language. As I wrote, they contain a lot of repetitions of basic vocabulary.
This is what I wrote in the blurb for my edition of the Greek Ollendorff:
This book approaches ancient Greek through the verbal repetition of a progressively or perpetually growing repertoire of phrases and idioms, which is Henri Ollendorff's methodology, a nineteenth-century German grammarian.
Markos asked me to make recordings of the exercises because he thinks (and I agree) that they may help people speak the language. As I wrote, they contain a lot of repetitions of basic vocabulary.
Corrections are welcome (especially for projects).

Oh so you recorded these? Good on you! Is there a link to a copy of this online, because the one I found on archive.org seems to be quite different?bedwere wrote:Thank you, Markos!

Re: Greek audio
Sorry, I misunderstood. I used the copy from archive.org . There is a missing page, which I took from the copy on Google books, but all the rest is there.
Check my post with the solutions of the exercises:
Key to Greek Ollendorff. Please help!
I put a link to each page.

Re: Greek audio
Do the book and the recordings teach Attic Greek or other variants?
