First, multas gratias to benissimus for posting the Wheelock sentences.

Second, how do you say "How do you say ___ in Latin?"?

Here, I'll trade you Italian for Latin. This is how you ask the question in Italian:
How do you say "whatever" in Italian?
Come si dice "whatever" in italiano?

my guess is "Quam latine _____ dicis?"

Yum, here's the Korean version for my trade with the correct one: :)

Code: Select all

How do you say ____ in Korean?
____ul/rul hangungmallo mworago hanayo?
-ul for words ending with a consonant. -rul for words ending with a vowel. :D

There are many ways to say this (ironic isn't it?):

The easiest way to me is: Quomodo 'x' Latine / lingua Latina dicitur?

= How 'X' is said the Latin way / in Latin?

But you can also work with:

Quomodo 'X' Latine / lingua Latine dicis?
You can also use dicas (would say), but dicis is also used for this purpose.

I think there are even more possibilities, but now you have a few,

perge Latine loqui,

Vale,

I agree with "Quomodo latine ____ dicitur". This "you" in English may be replaced with "one" or in french frequently used to avoid passive "on".
I am not sure that always "you" meaning "on" is used thus in latin. The safest way is the above.
