I'm a father!

Post by mingshey »

Hi, all!
My daughter is born yesterday. Normal delivery. 2.98kg. I'll be soon posting her picture on my blog home page. My wife's breastfeeding her, though she's not recovered completely. I'm singing her the birth blessing from time to time. :)

Great! Tibi gratulor!

You can sing her a Latin lulaby:

Mica, Mica, Parva Stella ("Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star")

Mica, mica, parva stella
Miror quaenam sis tam bella
Splendens eminus in illo
Alba velut gemma caelo

I, I In Lintre ("Row, Row, Row Your Boat")

I, i in lintre
Lente sub flumen
Laete, laete, laete, laete
Vita (e)st somnium.

I, II, III Barbari ("1 Little, 2 Little, 3 Little Indians")

Unus duo tres barbari
Quattour quinque sex barbari
Septem octo novem barbari
Et decem barbari

Nonne Dormis? ("Are You Sleeping?")

Nonne dormis, nonne dormis?
Frater mi, frater mi.
Sona matutinas, sona matutinas
Ding dong ding
Ding dong ding

So you will become a good pater familias,

Philippus

Gratz!

Tomorrow she can say: I wasn't born yesterday!

(PS: breastfeeding should help your wife to recover more quickly, apart from the fact that it's wonderful to do.)

Thank you, all. and thank you Moerus for the lovely lullabies in Latin.
Here's the picture of my daughter I took at the day of her birth. She has her mother's name as a tag on her shoulder.

Congratulations Mingshey, she looks lovely. Now, how about photos of the proud parents and a poll so we can vote on whose eyes/nose/mouth/whatever she's got.

Gratias! :)
Quot est dies haec natu?
about 41 weeks. The amniotic fluid was diminishing and my wife had to take ecbolic(if this is the right translation for it) for normal delivery.
Maior quam paucos videtur!
Yup, she's only as tall as my lower arm and hand.

I'm sorry you are a Greek person! My fault! And now that you have a lovely daughter you should certainly not be deciphering latin. It just seemed better than the usual "congrats! she's lovely!"

That's okay. I'm not greek enough, either. And Latin is just postponed for now(maybe until after I retire?). Anyway we have a latin parsing programs to help the deciphering. ;)
And it WAS nice! (I hope I deciphered rightly and gave you proper answers.)
