Heu, fuge, nate dea, teque his" ait "eripe flammis!

Post by pmda »

In Orberg, LLPSI, Cap XXXVII Hector Aeneae apparitur et eum monet ut Penates (dei domestici) salveat et ei dicit: "Heu, fuge, nate dea, teque his" ait "eripe flammis!

cur ...teque his' ait 'eripe flammis!'

te = Aeneas? (acc)..

'fly, one of Goddess born, and take yourself these from the flames''...?

Ita quidem, pmda.
I'm writing in Latin hoping for correction, and not because I'm confident in how I express myself. Latinè scribo ut ab omnibus corrigar, non quod confidenter me exprimam.

Hoc modo animadverti: non "and take yourself these from the flames'' sed "and take [/save] yourself from these flames''.

Oh good. I did think you meant as much originally, pmda.
Bonum est, pmda. Credi quidem te sic primùm dicere voluisse.
