quick translation of phrase -please :o)

Post by kennya »

could someone help translate this to latin or perhaps even point me to the original latin version from which this is extracted:

In purity and holiness I will guard my life and my art.

thats from the original version of the hippocratic oath or hippocratis etc..

thanks in advance ;) :D

I come up with:

Vitam artemque meam integritati sanctitatique conservabo.

The original goes: "pure vero et sancte servabo vitam meam et artem meam."
Borrowed from: http://www1.umn.edu/phrm/oaths/oath2.html

The English translation is not exactly loyal to the Latin. I would translate this more strictly as "in truth, purely and sacredly will I guard my life and my art."

Though the Hippocratic Oath may have originally been written in Ancient Greek ;)
