ὁ σῖτος [or, τὰ σῖτα] καὶ ὁ οἶνος εἰσι χρήσιμα τοῖς ἀνθρώποις.
Why not χρήσιμοι? Is the thought that they are useful things? The English: "Corn and wine are useful to men."
