Agon Armonias 2017

Call for an international competition to promote ancient Greek language!


This year, your task is to produce a short movie clip (max. 10 min) showing a short drama scene to promote the Ancient Greek language.
Your clip should be able to enthuse young and old people to learn Ancient Greek and show us, why you like to learn the Ancient Greek language. If you wish, you can include music. You can produce your clip in English, German or Greek in groups of 2-3 people. At least one of your group needs to learn the Ancient Greek language and your clip must include a short dialogue in Ancient Greek.

The best videos will be awarded:

First Prize:
2 weeks of free accommodation in a double or three bed room at Hellenikon Idyllion in Selianitika, Greece, with the possibility - if desired - to participate in the seminar “Speaking and Philosophizing in Attic ancient Greek” (August 19th to September 2nd 2017) if your stay will be during this time. Second Prize:

Jury
The competition will be judged by subject experts from different European countries, under the chairmanship of the promoter of the concept and sponsor of the competition Andreas Drekis, founder and director of Hellenikon Idyllion in Selianitika/Greece:
• Joulia Diamantopoulou, sixth form teacher for classical Greek, Athens, Greece

• Florian Feicht, sixth form teacher for ancient Greek language, Heidelberg, Germany

• Werner Schulze, composer, scientist and former professor at the University of music and fine arts in Vienna, Austria

• Dr. Dora Katsonopoulou, archaeologist, director of excavations at ancient Helike, Achaia, Greece and President of the Institute for the Archaeology of Paros and the Cyclades

Conditions
The decision of the jury is final. It is not refutable and not subject to appeal. We reserve the right to publicize the names of the winners and the result of their work on the internet and in the press.
Deadline
To participate in the competition please register in groups of 2-3 people until the 30th of March 2017 by sending an e-mail with your name and post address, as well as the address of your school or university to info@idyllion.eu. A confirmation of the receipt of your application will be sent to you by e-mail. Please send your contributions either by e-mail or by giving a link to your video clip.
